LPA Annual Meeting May 12
By Susan Thompson
The 49th annual meeting of the Lake Panorama Association will be Saturday, May 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Lake Panorama National conference center. Each year, the LPA annual meeting provides a formal statement of the association’s financial position, plus reports on activities during the past year and plans for the coming year.
Reports will be given by Jim Spradling, LPA board president; Gary Evans, LPA board treasurer; John Dinnebier, LPN director of operations; and John Rutledge, LPA general manager.
The results of the annual election for the LPA board of directors will be announced at the end of the meeting, and there will be time for audience questions and comments.
An official announcement of the meeting will be sent to all LPA members in mid-April. Included in this mailing will be a ballot, plus a numbered envelope in which to return the ballot. Ballots must be returned in the numbered envelopes to ensure ballot authenticity. If an envelope is lost, contact the LPA office for a replacement.
There are no issues this year that require a special vote. The 2017 ballot is simply for electing two members to the LPA board of directors.
Members are asked to deliver or mail their completed ballot in the numbered envelope to the LPA office before Friday, May 11. This allows the majority of the ballots to be counted in advance of the annual meeting. Ballots also can be brought to the annual meeting.
Five people are running for two seats on the LPA seven-member board. Both Mindy Larson Poldberg and Charles Schnack will be completing their second, three-year terms on the board at the 2018 annual meeting, and are ineligible to run again.
The five board candidates are Emily Donovan, Jason Grossman, Andy Harrelson, Todd Hyde and Rich Schumacher. LPA bylaws require each board candidate to provide a 100-word statement. This year’s candidate statements are printed here in alphabetical order.

Lake Panorama has been my sanctuary since 2007, when my husband, Billy, and I built our first home. As an LPA board member, my goal would be to improve the quality of life and amenities for all who live here and our guests. I am employed at Heartland AEA as a Behavior and Autism Consultant. I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Iowa. Previous board experience: Dallas County Empowerment, National Association of Social Workers, Iowa Chapter & in Washington, DC, and Iowa Association for Behavior Analysts.

My name is Jason Grossman, I moved to Lake Panorama with my wife Lisa in January of 2007. My goal is to make sure that the Lake Panorama Association continues to grow and gets stronger every year. I want to serve my fellow members. I want to be a voice, with an open mind and open ears. I can bring a renewed enthusiasm to the LPA board, I want the LPA to continue to flourish and maintain the quality of living that attracted Lisa and I to settle here in 2007. Thank you and I would truly appreciate your support.

Hello, my name is Andy Harrelson. My fiancé (Rachel) and I just moved to the lake last year from Atlantic. I'm running for one of the two seats that are going to be filled this year on the LPA Board of Directors. I’ve had the opportunity to meet several neighbors and members of the community and am excited for the opportunity to serve. I’m looking forward to introducing myself and discussing all things LPA related. Rachel and I are full time residents and are very excited to join this wonderful community. Please feel free to reach me at 402-301-1135. Thanks!

My name is Todd Hyde, a member of the Lake Panorama Association since 1989. I am one of the three partner/owners of Screenscape Studios in West Des Moines, Iowa. Screenscape Studios is considered one of the Midwest’s premier video production companies, celebrating over 30 years in business. Our family has enjoyed many activities of Lake Panorama over the last 29 years and I look forward to supporting continued enhancements of the area, while keeping costs within established budgets. I have served on the Water Safety Committee since 2012 and serve as Vice President of the Sunset Ridge Owners Association.

Deb and I have owned a home at Lake Panorama for 20 years, moving here full time in 2016. Prior to retirement I owned an Insurance/Real Estate business and was CEO for two different Mutual Insurance Associations. With a degree in accounting and economics I understand financial reports; investment portfolios; strategic/succession planning. I have served on State, National and local boards, helping me to distinguish the difference between the role of the director and management. With your support, I look forward to the opportunity to use these skills to serve the association members of the LPA.
