Sunset Beach Playground Construction Completed

By Susan Thompson
A semi-load of playground parts and pieces was delivered July 8 to Sunset Beach. LPA staff unloaded the equipment near the site of the future playground. Installation began July 11 and the playground opened July 14.
Donations totaling $80,000 given to the Friends of Lake Panorama nonprofit charity made up the base support for this new playground. The Lake Panorama Association provided an additional $50,000. The LPA also provided technical and construction assistance.

Check Presentations to Friends of Lake Panorama

A $500 check was presented May 20 to Friends of Lake Panorama to support the construction of a new playground at Sunset Beach. Participating in the presentation were, left to right, Andy Randol, Panora Telco general manager; Emily Spradling, Friends board member; Kent Atha, Aureon Technology account manager; and Jody Muench, Friends board member. Panora Telco sponsored the Friends of Lake Panorama grant application.
Two organizations presented checks May 20 to members of the Friends of Lake Panorama board of directors. Aureon and Panora Telco teamed up to provide a $500 donation. The St. Thomas More Center donated $1,000.
The donations helped the Friends nonprofit charity reach its fundraising goal of $80,000 to build a new playground at Sunset Beach. The Lake Panorama Association is providing an additional $50,000, plus technical and construction assistance, so the playground can be completed this summer.
